Robbery of a Hardware Store

In a series of shocking incidents over the weekend, a 20-year-old man was suspected of multiple burglaries at hardware stores in the Fürth and Erlangen area. The spree began on Friday afternoon at a store in Furth's Fritz-Gastreich-Straße.

The first incident occurred when the suspect, who was later identified, was observed taking items without paying from the sanitary department of the hardware store. According to reports, the suspect initially engaged an employee in a prolonged conversation, then left without paying for an item.

Later in the day, the same suspect returned to the hardware store in Furth. When confronted about the earlier incident, the suspect sprayed pepper spray at a 75-year-old employee. A scuffle ensued between the suspect and the employee on the floor, with other employees and customers needing to intervene to restrain the unruly thief.

The public prosecutor's office has applied for the detention of the 20-year-old suspect. The stolen goods found in the suspect's vehicle included items from earlier that morning and the previous day, indicating a pattern of theft.

The suspect was also involved in another incident at a hardware store in Erlangen's Neumühle on Saturday. Initial attempts to detain the suspect in Erlangen were unsuccessful, but the suspect was eventually arrested and taken into custody at the scene by a patrol from Erlangen-Stadt police station.

Officers found more suspected stolen goods in the suspect's vehicle, further evidence of the suspect's criminal activity. The authorities are currently investigating the full extent of the suspect's involvement in these incidents.
