Romania sees the debut of Power BOX rapid charging station, initiated by PPC

The PPC Group, a leading energy provider with over 70 years of tradition in Greece and a significant presence in South-Eastern Europe, has announced a new strategic direction in Romania with the launch of the PPC blue Power BOX. This state-of-the-art charging station, located near Uzunu in Giurgiu county, is part of PPC Renewables Romania's photovoltaic park, ensuring 100% green charging.

Andreea-Dana Popescu, director of PPC Blue Romania, expressed her excitement about this project, stating that it demonstrates the combination of technology, sustainability, and accessibility in an innovative way. The charging station, named PPC blue Power BOX, is powered entirely by renewable energy from a photovoltaic park in Călugăreni.

The PPC blue Power BOX combines a 150 kW ultra-fast charging station with a 250 kWh energy storage system, enabling simultaneous charging of two electric vehicles. This significant investment in Romania's electric mobility infrastructure is part of The PPC Group's ambitious plan to increase its renewable energy portfolio to 11.8 GW in the coming years.

The use of PPC Blue stations has already made a substantial impact, preventing more than 1,700 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2024. In the first half of 2025, drivers using PPC Blue stations traveled a combined 10.5 million kilometers, equivalent to 262 laps around the Earth. The charging service is available free of charge to all electric vehicle users, including PPC Blue Romania customers who can connect via the Plug & Charge system using the PPC blue mobile app.

PPC Blue operates over 750 charging points nationwide with a total installed capacity of more than 21 MW. The company's headquarters are in Greece, and it is the owner of PPC Blue Romania. Diana Radu, the head of PPC Blue Romania, mentioned in the article that the company is exploring the extension of this model to other areas in Romania.

Electric mobility, according to Popescu, is the link between production, storage, and the consumer. As The PPC Group rapidly expands its renewable energy portfolio, with installed capacity rising from 4.7 GW in early 2024 to 6.3 GW by mid-2025, it is clear that this innovative charging station is just the beginning of a sustainable future for electric mobility in Romania.
