In a thrilling finish, Chinese golfer Wang clinched the LPGA tournament crown at the 18th hole, holding off a strong challenge from Jeeno.

Wang began the day with a four-shot lead, but Jeeno's impressive start saw her fire a closing 67 with birdies on five of the first nine holes, including a share of the lead with Wang at the par-five 12th hole. However, Jeeno could not recover from a bogey at the 17th hole, while Wang answered a bogey at the fifth hole with a birdie at the ninth hole to maintain her lead.

Wang, who won a prize of $615,000 for the LPGA tournament win, attributed her success to her putting, which she considers her best club in the bag. She birdied the par-five second and par-three third holes, and held off competition, particularly from world number one Jeeno.

American Andrea Lee ended the tournament in fourth place with a score of 272, while South Korea's Kim Sei-young finished the tournament in third place with a score of 271. American Rose Zhang and South Korean Im Jin-hee shared fifth place with scores of 273.

Im Jin-hee shot a bogey-free 62 in the tournament, an impressive feat that showcased her consistent play throughout the competition.

Wang's victory marks the seventh time a rookie has seized an LPGA victory this year, and the 11th first-time winner of the season. She joins Feng Shanshan and Yin Ruoning as the third Chinese player to capture an LPGA crown.

Wang won the NCAA US collegiate team crown with Duke University in 2019, and her victory at the LPGA tournament is a testament to her talent and determination on the course.

The golfer who won her first LPGA Tour victory at the start of the 2025 season is Akie Iwai, who triumphed at the Portland Classic in Portland with a flawless final round of 66 strokes and a four-stroke lead.

In a dramatic turn of events, Jeeno made bogey at the 17th hole and fell into a tie for the lead, but Wang held her nerve to par the 18th hole and secure the LPGA tournament crown.

This victory is a significant milestone in Wang's career, and she will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in future tournaments.
