In the bustling tech landscape of China, artificial intelligence (AI) tools have become a crucial part of everyday life for many. With over 230 million users engaging with AI-based solutions by the end of June 2023, it's clear that China is leading the global charge in implementing AI solutions.

Beijing and Shanghai host a combined 170 AI-powered services, providing a robust infrastructure for the development and deployment of AI technology. Major Chinese tech firms, including Baidu, Tencent, and Alibaba, have launched their own proprietary AI solutions, further solidifying China's dominance in the field.

One of the standout AI models is Alibaba Cloud's Qwen2-Math, which reportedly outperforms GPT-4 and Claude 3.5 in complex mathematical problems. This model is part of the Qwen series of large language models by Alibaba Cloud, demonstrating the company's commitment to AI innovation.

Despite U.S. restrictions, such as a ban on exporting advanced GPUs to China, Chinese companies continue to push boundaries. These obstacles create hardware limitations that hinder further AI advancements, but the resilience of Chinese companies is evident in their continued innovation.

Two-thirds of users in China rely on large language models for answering queries, with the most popular AI product being Ernie, developed by Baidu. Ernie offers a wide range of functionalities, including text generation, data analysis, summarization, content creation, coding assistance, image generation, and other AI-driven tasks.

While ChatGPT by OpenAI and Google's Gemini are officially unavailable in mainland China, they are still used by Chinese users. ChatGPT accounts for 7% of users, while Gemini holds 3.8% of the market share for AI products in China.

Despite the dominance of Chinese companies in the AI field, it's important to note that the market share of specific AI products remains undisclosed. However, the success of these companies and the widespread adoption of AI tools in China highlight the country's significant strides in AI innovation.

In July, Kuaishou introduced its video generation AI model, Kling, making it available to the public. As China continues to innovate, it's clear that the AI revolution is well underway.
