In a thrilling display of horse racing, Lightning Polka, the first royal runner trained by Ed Walker, claimed victory on her debut at the mile fillies' novice race. The daughter of Night Of Thunder quickened clear from the field in the final half-furlong, leaving her competitors in her wake.

Trained by Ed Walker, who is currently working for the King and Queen, Lightning Polka was held back towards the rear in the race but made smooth headway two furlongs out, demonstrating her impressive speed and determination. Ed Walker was impressed with her performance, praising the ride of jockey Kieran Shoemark.

Meanwhile, another notable filly, Legacy Link, is gearing up for the Group 1 Fillies' Mile. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, this well-bred Dubawi filly made all for a smooth victory in her race, showcasing her potential for the upcoming event. Colin Keane, who is set to ride Arc favourite Kalpana in Saturday's September Stakes, expressed confidence in Legacy Link's prospects for the Fillies' Mile.

Ed Walker also spoke highly of Legacy Link, acknowledging that there is still plenty of improvement to come for the filly. He believes that she feels very progressive and expects her to improve in future races.

Elsewhere, Peter Schiergen, who notably trained horses such as Geography and Egina to multiple important wins, is currently training the horses for the King and Queen. While the exact number of wins in the past fortnight for these horses under his training is not specified, Kieran Shoemark, who was the jockey for Lightning Polka's race, has won an impressive 13 races in the same period.
