In an exciting turn of events, James Gunn's rebooted DC Studios has announced plans to produce two cinematic Batmen simultaneously. This groundbreaking decision is part of the interconnected DC Universe (DCU) that is set to continue next year with a host of projects.

One of the Batmen will be played by Robert Pattinson, whose standalone universe is disconnected from other DC heroes. The long-awaited sequel to Pattinson's The Batman, titled The Batman Part II, is scheduled for release in 2027.

Meanwhile, the other Batman, yet to be cast, will serve as the Dark Knight for the DCU. And it seems that Alan Ritchson, known for his roles in DC series Titans and Smallville, might just be in the running for the role.

Rumours about Ritchson playing Batman in James Gunn's DCU films have been persistent, and Ritchson himself has discussed these rumours in the past. In a previous interview with Wired, Ritchson expressed his desire to play Batman.

James Gunn, a fan of Ritchson both as an actor and as a person, has not confirmed or denied these rumours. However, Ritchson has stated that he would be willing to play Batman without being paid.

Despite the persistent rumours, Ritchson does not think Batman is in his future. Instead, he looks forward to having a future in DC in another role.

The DCU is shaping up to be an exciting place, with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Lanterns scheduled for release next year, along with the HBO series Lanterns. Ritchson and Gunn have exchanged words about Batman, but the final decision on the casting remains to be seen.

Stay tuned for more updates as the DCU continues to unfold!
