Israel Appoints New Ambassadors to Russia and Slovakia
The Israeli government has announced new appointments for its ambassadors to Russia and Slovakia. According to reports by Israel National News, Oded Yosef has been appointed as the new ambassador of Israel to Russia, while Kobi Yanuk will take up the position in Slovakia.
Oded Yosef, a seasoned diplomat, has held positions in multiple Israeli missions, including Moscow, Washington, and Singapore. In addition, he has served as a non-resident ambassador to Uganda, Malawi, and the Seychelles. Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Russia, Yosef served as ambassador to Kenya.
Simona Gальpepin, who is set to leave her post as Israel's ambassador to Russia this fall, will be succeeded by Yosef. Gальpepin, who was appointed as ambassador to Russia in May 2023, has had a distinguished career in Israeli diplomacy. Before her appointment as ambassador to Russia, she served as a special envoy to the Pacific Islands and headed the Israel Economic and Cultural Mission in Taipei. After her tenure in Russia, she will become the director of the European Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Kobi Yanuk, who holds a position in the Gulf States Department at the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as Israel's ambassador to Slovakia. No further details about Yanuk's career in Israeli diplomacy have been disclosed.
The appointments were proposed by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar. The Egyptian ambassador has also completed his mission in Russia. With these appointments, both Yosef and Yanuk have been appointed as ambassadors.
These changes in diplomatic representation are expected to strengthen the ties between Israel and Russia, as well as Slovakia, and contribute to the advancement of bilateral relations.
