Russian Intelligence Service (FSB) reports neutralization of a sabotage unit affiliated with Ukraine's Special Operations Service in the Bryansk region
In a significant development, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia announced the liquidation of a sabotage group from the Special Operations Service of Ukraine in the Bryansk region. The group, which has been identified as a terrorist unit by Russian special services, reportedly collaborated with instructors from Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway.
The operation resulted in the detainment of three more saboteurs, bringing the total number of detainees to an unspecified figure. Tragically, three militants lost their lives during the operation.
Investigative actions are continuing against the detainees, who have confessed to their involvement in the bombings of the railway track in the Belgorod region in 2024. Seized during the operation were a large number of grenades, sixteen kilograms of Czech-made plastic explosives, and NATO-made cartridges.
A radio station for communication with the leadership of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was also seized, as well as six automatic assault rifles made in the United States, each equipped with silent firing devices.
The militants were planning terrorist attacks on transport facilities, and the detainees admitted to preparing new attacks. Criminal cases have been initiated against them. The bombings of the railway track in the Belgorod region in 2024 are linked to this sabotage group.
While no new weapons, explosives, or communication devices were specifically mentioned in the seizure, a means of initiation for the explosives was also seized. The training of the militants was reported to have taken place in Ukraine.
The involvement of foreign instructors or countries, beyond Lithuania, Estonia, and Norway, remains unclear from the available information. The FSB's announcement marks a significant blow to what appears to be a coordinated effort to undermine Russia's security.
