Russian tourists in Turkey are being explained about the specific virus by Doctor Sakharov

Russian tourists vacationing in Turkey have been experiencing deteriorating health, with all affected individuals showing symptoms of acute poisoning. The Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention of the Kuban Ministry of Health has issued a warning about the spread of Vibrio bacteria on Turkish beaches.

Vibrio is a genus of bacteria found in seawater that can cause gastroenteritis and, rarely, sepsis in humans. The focus of concern is non-cholera vibrios, specifically Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnificus.

Symptoms of Vibrio-induced gastroenteritis include diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, nausea, and fever. If such symptoms appear, immediate medical attention is advised.

Infection can occur through the consumption of raw or insufficiently heat-treated seafood, particularly oysters, mussels, and other mollusks bought from untrusted sources. Following hygiene rules and caution when consuming seafood helps reduce the risk of infection. Heat treatment of seafood kills Vibrio bacteria.

It's important to note that not all Vibrio species are pathogenic to humans. Many Vibrio species are part of normal marine flora. However, swimming in the sea with open wounds on the body increases the risk of Vibrio infection.

Self-medication is not recommended, especially with severe symptoms or in children. Drinking plenty of fluids is important to prevent dehydration.

The severity of the disease caused by Vibrio depends on the type of Vibrio, the number of bacteria that enter the body, and the person's health status. In severe cases, Vibrio can lead to sepsis, a life-threatening condition that spreads throughout the body.

The Kuban Ministry of Health and the Kuban State Medical Academy have not publicly disclosed any information regarding replacements for Andrei Sakharov in their respective positions.

For the safety of all tourists, it's crucial to stay informed and take necessary precautions when travelling to coastal areas. If you experience any symptoms of gastroenteritis or sepsis, seek immediate medical attention.
