Russian Mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsyna's Rescue Ongoing Amidst Challenging Conditions
In a tense and dramatic situation, Russian mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsyna has been waiting for rescue at an altitude of seven thousand meters on Peak Victory in Kyrgyzstan for nine days.
On August 16, an emergency services helicopter was dispatched to evacuate Nagovitsyna, but due to harsh weather conditions, the helicopter encountered turbulence and had to make an emergency landing near the incident site.
The following day, rescuers reached the area where Nagovitsyna is presumed to be located. However, the unfavorable weather conditions and dangerous terrain have made the rescue mission challenging.
Footage shot by a drone on August 16 confirms that Nagovitsyna is alive. The footage, published by journalists, shows a small dot visible at Peak Victory, which is reported to be Nagovitsyna.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation, and search and rescue operations are currently ongoing. The exact date of the next evacuation attempt for Nagovitsyna has not been confirmed yet.
