Russia's current readiness for negotiations remains questionable, according to Zelensky.

In the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, there seems to be no sign of dialogue between the two nations' leaders. According to statements from the Kremlin, Moscow has shown no willingness to engage in talks with Ukraine so far. This stance has been reiterated by Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who stated that President Vladimir Putin does not want to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky due to doubts about Zelensky's legitimacy as President of Ukraine, given his position under martial law in Kyiv.

Zelensky, on the other hand, has been holding the state's top position in Kyiv despite his expired term under martial law, as per the Ukrainian constitution. His current official title remains "President of Ukraine." In his evening video address, Zelensky reminded that Russia is not engaging in talks.

Recently, Putin has been visiting China and making new excuses for the war, a claim Zelensky has referred to as Putin's favorite sport. The global community has emphasized the need for a quick end to the war, although the context provided does not offer specific information about the global emphasis for a quick end to the war.

Meanwhile, Putin's rule in Russia has been sustained due to constitutional amendments, which have favorable effects on term limits. These amendments have allowed Putin to rule continuously since 2012.

In a surprising turn of events, two weeks ago in Washington, it was announced that Moscow should be ready for a meeting at the highest level "by today." However, the direct negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, as expected from Washington, have not yet occurred due to Russia's lack of willingness to engage in talks.

Despite these challenges, Zelensky continues to assert that only Russia wants war. He has also stated that Russia is not investing in peace but rather in further war, a claim that underscores the urgency for dialogue and a swift resolution to the ongoing conflict.
