RwandAir acquires two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft

RwandAir, the national carrier of Rwanda, is set to enhance its services with the arrival of new aircraft and the delivery of others in the fourth quarter of the year. The airline aims to provide a more reliable schedule and minimize operational interruptions with these additions.

The airline has already expanded its fleet this month with the arrival of two Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These aircraft, well-suited for short and medium-haul services across Africa and neighboring regions, are already in active service. One of them is expected to be joined by a third Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the same quarter. The newly delivered Boeing 737-800s are configured with 12 business-class and 162 economy-class seats, providing greater comfort for passengers.

The new deliveries also aim to improve connectivity within the continent. The introduction of these Boeing 737-800 aircraft is expected to support higher frequency on popular routes, linking Africa more effectively to the global market.

In addition to the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, RwandAir anticipates the delivery of a wide-body Airbus A330-200 in the fourth quarter. This aircraft will enhance RwandAir's long-haul offering, particularly for routes linking Africa with key international destinations. The delivery of the Airbus A330-200 marks an important step in diversifying RwandAir's fleet mix.

The Airbus A330-200 will underscore RwandAir's commitment to achieving its long-term ambition. While the specific number of seats configured for the new Airbus A330-200 has not been announced yet, it is expected to provide greater comfort for passengers. The Airbus A330-200 delivery supports the growth of intercontinental services for RwandAir.

The focus on both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft is part of RwandAir's strategy to strengthen intra-African connectivity. RwandAir has successfully returned several previously grounded aircraft to operation after undergoing technical servicing. The new deliveries and repairs aim to modernize its fleet and provide a more reliable service for its passengers.

The latest investments by RwandAir are not just about expanding its fleet but also about diversifying it, aiming to link Africa more effectively to the global market through these investments and fleet expansions. The introduction of the new Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft is a significant step towards this goal.
