In the upcoming DP World Tour's flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, both Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy have confirmed their participation.

Before heading to the prestigious tournament, Lowry showcased impressive form at the Irish Open. In his first round, he averaged 296.5 yards off the tee, five yards further than the tournament average. This performance earned him a spot among the top 11 in terms of fairway hits, with 78.6% of his shots finding the fairway.

However, Lowry's numbers in the second round were more in line with his season stats on the DP World Tour. In the driving accuracy department, he ranked 40th, and in driving yardage, he was 51st. Despite this, Lowry finished the Irish Open in a respectable position.

Meanwhile, McIlroy has made a change to his wedge setup, switching from TaylorMade MG4 wedges to the new TaylorMade MG5s. This change was evident during the practice round at The K Club for the Irish Open.

In the same tournament, Lowry made a change to his driver, opting for the Srixon ZXi LS+. He expressed satisfaction with the new driver but cautioned that it was only one day of play.

During the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Lowry used three different drivers for three different rounds. Despite this, he managed to finish the tournament in seventh place, albeit losing -1.153 shots in terms of Strokes Gained: Off the Tee.

As for McIlroy's performance in the Irish Open, specific details were not provided. However, after two rounds, he found himself in a share of third place, having scored rounds of 71 and 66.

Following the BMW PGA Championship, both Lowry and McIlroy will head to Bethpage Black and the Ryder Cup. Team Europe will aim to retain the trophy on American soil, with both players expected to play significant roles in the team's bid for victory.
