A Little about Lotto

Lotto is a game of chance where players pick six different numbers between 1 and 52. For those who don't want to pick, there's always the "Quick Pick" option.

The game first came into existence with a starting jackpot of numbers from 1 to 49, but it increased to 52 on 30 July 2017. In the draw, six numbered balls are taken without replacement from a set of 52 balls numbered from 1 to 52. An additional "Bonus Ball" is drawn as well, affecting players who match five numbers.

Prizes are awarded to players who match at least three of the drawn numbers, with prizes increasing for matching more numbers. If six numbers match, the winners share the jackpot. With approximately 1 in 20 million odds, it's not an everyday occurrence!

The cost to enter the draw is R5.00 per board.

Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2

Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 offer a second and third chance to win, respectively. When purchasing a Lotto ticket, players can pay an extra R2.50 per board for either add-on game. Odds remain the same, while prizes typically are slightly lower compared to the main Lotto draw.

Lotto Plus 1 was introduced on 26 November 2003, while Lotto Plus 2 came along on 30 July 2017.
