The Global Water Expo, a significant event focusing on water and desalination solutions, drainage and sewage systems, water extraction and treatment, waste management, recycling, and environmental protection, is currently underway in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, which runs from September 2-4, is being held at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Center and welcomes visitors, investors, and business owners to showcase technologies and exchange knowledge on water and sustainable practices.

One of the international participants at the Global Water Expo 2025 is Energy Recovery, an American leader in energy efficiency technology based in San Diego, California. Energy Recovery's product, which is used in seawater desalination plants, stands out due to its unique advantage of capturing and reusing a high energy content. In seawater desalination plants using reverse osmosis, this product produces desalinated water and wastewater. Energy Recovery captures approximately 60% of the energy produced in such plants, reusing it for the plant's benefit.

The desalinated water produced by Energy Recovery's product is reused, while the wastewater is purified and returned to the sea. This approach is particularly relevant for Saudi Arabia, which hosts the world's largest desalination plant and is making significant investments to address its water needs due to scarce natural resources.

Another participant at the event is SAS RTL, a Madinah-based company that began operations in 2021 and specializes in water systems, including desalination plants and sewage systems. Tareq Al-Tamimi, the founder and owner of SAS RTL, is among the participants. SAS RTL's commercial goal at the event is to showcase its facility to suppliers and consumers, and to grow in both local and global markets.

Besides German, Chinese, and Turkish companies, international participants at the Global Water Expo 2025 include leading global suppliers covering all water sector aspects, with notable involvement from companies represented in the German Pavilion and other international exhibitors supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

The Global Water Expo runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is attracting international companies specializing in desalination and water solutions to present their technologies. Over 300 local and international companies are participating, including firms from Germany, China, Turkiye, and the US in the water treatment sector.

Imad Al-Sharif, vice president of sales and business development at Energy Recovery, is present at the Global Water Expo. His presence underscores Energy Recovery's commitment to showcasing its innovative solutions and contributing to the global efforts to address water scarcity and sustainability. The Global Water Expo 2025 in Riyadh promises to be a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the showcasing of cutting-edge technologies in the water sector.
