In a significant move, Riyadh-based edtech company Noon Academy has entered the Indian market, marking a focus on this rapidly growing sector. The launch was announced by Abhishek Mittal, who previously held the position of Vice President for Business at Unacademy, via a LinkedIn post.

Noon Academy, which serves over 5 million students in various markets, aims to provide a peer-to-peer learning experience to improve academic outcomes for students. The company hired Vari Patel in May 2021 to lead the development of its Indian market, while Bilal Musharraf has been appointed to oversee its expansion efforts.

The Noon Academy platform offers classes from preparatory to high school levels. Teachers can create public or private groups on the platform and invite students to join. They can also schedule and conduct live classes, competitions, and quizzes. The platform includes features for teachers to monitor student performance and communicate with them.

Currently, the Noon Academy platform is free for both teachers and students. The company recently raised $13 million in a pre-Series B round, with the funds earmarked for accelerating its global expansion.

Noon Academy has had an engineering office in India for years, but this launch indicates a more concerted effort to tap into the Indian edtech market. Abhishek Mittal, with his extensive experience in the Indian edtech industry, is expected to lead this charge.

As Noon Academy embarks on this new journey, it aims to make a significant impact on the Indian education landscape, providing a unique and engaging learning experience for students and teachers alike.
