Schedule of the Withdrawal Agreement Committee Meeting: June 12, 2020
UK and EU to Hold Second Withdrawal Agreement Joint Committee Meeting Via Video Conference
The United Kingdom and the European Union will convene for the second meeting of the Withdrawal Agreement Joint Committee on June 12, 2020, via video conference. The meeting will be co-chaired by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, and Vice President of the European Commission, Mr Maroš Šefčovič.
The agenda for the meeting includes four items. The first item is an introduction and opening remarks from the co-chairs. The second item on the agenda is the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement, which includes discussions on citizens' rights and the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland.
The third item on the agenda is the decision on amendments to the Withdrawal Agreement. The fourth item, Any Other Business (AOB), will provide an opportunity for the delegations to raise any other matters of interest.
Financial provisions and the Protocol on Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus are also items on the agenda for the meeting. The Protocol on Gibraltar is another item that will be discussed.
The UK delegation will be led by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, and will include representatives from the UK's Ministry of Defence and Foreign Office, specifically led by the UK's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Representatives from the Northern Ireland Executive have been invited to join the UK delegation.
The Paymaster General, Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt MP, will also be part of the UK delegation. The meeting will mark the continuation of efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement between the UK and the EU.
