School proposals for construction in Somerset have been put forward

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, a Somerset-based development organisation, has submitted plans to North Somerset Council to build a new school in Weston-Super-Mare. If approved, the school will be named Weston Airfield Primary School and will be built alongside a nursery and a community space.

The T-shaped building will have 630 places through three forms of entry, serving the wider development. The school will consist of 21 classrooms, a 103-place nursery provision, school hall, kitchen facilities, staff and head teacher rooms, and a community hub with studios and changing room facilities.

The Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, Claire Burton, commented on the plans, stating, "We are not just building houses, but homes. Our vision for the Haywood Village site includes creating a sense of place, which extends beyond public facilities to our Community Champions initiative."

The design of Weston Airfield Primary School is described as beautiful. The school will be located within the Haywood Village site in Weston-Super-Mare and will be surrounded by nature-rich surroundings. The estate will include wildflower areas, insect hotels, potential beehives, and log-based habitats.

If approved, the school will be the second school Persimmon has delivered for the local community as part of the Haywood Village site. When complete, the Haywood Village site will deliver over 2,500 homes to local families.

The school will be equipped with solar panels and powered by air-source heat pumps, making it environmentally friendly. Persimmon Homes Severn Valley's managing director, Paul Moody, looks forward to seeing more award-winning work from their crews at Haywood Village and Weston Airfield Primary School. He commented on the plans, stating, "We are happy with the progress at the Haywood Village site, and we are excited to start building the school for the new homes' occupants."

The school will serve the generations of children that will grow up in the homes built by Persimmon Homes Severn Valley. Weston Airfield Primary School will feature community spaces, making it a central hub for the local community.

Paul Moody emphasized his excitement for the project, stating, "I look forward to seeing more award-winning work from our crews at Haywood Village and Weston Airfield Primary School. The beautiful design, environmentally friendly energy sources, and nature-rich surroundings will make this school a fantastic addition to the Weston-Super-Mare community."
