Secure Your Bicycle in Moers and Neukirchen-Vluyn: Complimentary Bicycle Coding Offered in September and October

The Circular Police Authority Wesel has announced the launch of a new initiative to combat bike theft in the regions of Moers and Neukirchen-Vluyn. The service, which is free of charge, involves the registration and coding of bicycles to help deter potential thieves and aid in ownership verification.

Starting from mid-June 2025, residents of both Moers and Neukirchen-Vluyn can take advantage of this service at designated locations. In Moers, the service is available at the Police Station Yard, Asberger Straße 5. In Neukirchen-Vluyn, residents can visit the Police Service Building, Niederrheinallee 130, or the Sparkasse, Siebertstraße 2.

The process is straightforward. To participate, individuals need to present a valid ID and proof of ownership. A unique barcode sticker will then be affixed to the bike, linked to its frame number. This barcode serves as a visible deterrent to potential thieves, making it less attractive for theft.

Moreover, the barcode sticker is not easily removable, ensuring that the coding remains in place even if the bike is moved or tampered with. This added layer of security is intended to make it easier for the police to recover stolen bikes and return them to their rightful owners.

The Circular Police Authority Wesel Press Office can be reached for inquiries at 0281 / 107-1050, fax: 0281 / 107-1055, or via email at [email protected]. The person responsible for media representatives at the Kreispolizeibehörde Wesel is Police Chief Inspector Henner Störmer, who has been leading the press and public relations department since mid-June 2025.

It is important to note that this service is open to both classic bicycles and pedelecs. However, the specific dates and times for the service at each location are not currently provided. The service locations details are not provided for areas outside of Neukirchen-Vluyn and Moers at this time.

This initiative is part of the Circular Police Authority Wesel's ongoing efforts to improve safety and security in the region. By offering a free and accessible bike coding service, they aim to provide residents with peace of mind and help reduce the incidence of bike theft in the area.
