Seized Evidence from Leipzig's Tobacco Underworld During Raid
In a significant operation, German customs investigators seized a machine for producing hookah tobacco during a raid in Leipzig. The search, conducted by over 70 officers, targeted eight locations in and around the city on Friday.
The suspects, seven in total, are accused of manufacturing hookah tobacco from raw tobacco, glycerin, sugar, citric acid, and flavorings. They allegedly packaged the illegal tobacco in counterfeit hookah tobacco packaging and sold it.
During the raid, investigators discovered 400 liters of glycerin, a key ingredient in the production of hookah tobacco, and a total of 250 kg of smoking tobacco. At least 250 kg of the produced tobacco was seized. In addition, 500 kg of tobacco in total was confiscated.
