Seizure of Cash and Jewelry Following Surprise Police Raid
In the quiet town of Hürth, located within the Rhein-Erft-Kreis in Germany, an unfortunate incident took place on Tuesday, May 22nd. A woman was tricked into handing over jewelry and cash by unknown perpetrators.
The incident occurred around 12:25 pm. The man who collected the valuables was approximately 170 cm tall, aged between 35 and 40, and wore a dark cap. He persuaded the woman to hand over the money and valuables to an unknown person, and then fled towards Nikolausstraße.
The Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police are actively investigating the incident, with their Kriminalkommissariat 12 leading the investigation. Witnesses are being sought for the pick-up person involved in the incident.
The police advise against giving out information about valuable items, cash, or bank accounts to callers. They also warn that officials, such as police officers, prosecutors, bank employees, or doctors, never demand the handover of such items. If one is pressured on the phone, ending the call and hanging up is recommended.
The perpetrator used a phone call to deceive the woman, claiming to be her son in need of money for hospital treatment due to a coronavirus infection. However, the identity of the man who fled the arrest has not been disclosed publicly.
The woman and a relative alerted the Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police about the incident. The police urge anyone who may have information about the pick-up person or the incident to report it to them. Tips can be provided to the investigators by phone at 02271 81-0 or by email at [email protected].
