Selangor PAS Youth endorses Ti's viewpoints, advocates for a discussion
In a shift from the traditional perception, the Selangor Youth Wing of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) is focusing on practical solutions to issues such as the rising cost of living, job opportunities, affordable housing, and quality education. This new approach, as outlined by PAS leaders, is aimed at winning over voters from various communities, particularly the Chinese and Indian communities.
Contrary to claims that PAS is only active on the ground during election season, the Selangor Youth Wing has been consistently participating in cultural activities, multiracial community forums, visits to houses of worship, neighbourhood gotong-royong, and various cross-cultural welfare programmes. The DHPP (PAS's non-Muslim supporters wing) and Selangor PAS Youth have been at the forefront of these initiatives, demonstrating a respect for the educational and cultural rights of non-Malay communities as guaranteed by the Federal Constitution.
Selangor PAS Youth chief Sukri Omar has welcomed the views of Ti Lian Ker, a former MCA vice-president known for criticizing DAP as "MCA 2.0." Sukri has invited Ti Lian Ker and other concerned parties to sit down with Selangor PAS Youth to discuss strategies for wooing Chinese and Indian voters.
Ti Lian Ker has suggested that PAS should focus on issues affecting the public rather than harping on Malay supremacy, political Islam, and moral policing. He believes that this is the true face of Islam-centric politics, being compassionate and providing real solutions to people's daily needs.
PAS has been carrying out welfare programs, disaster relief, basic legal aid, community health checks, and tuition classes for underprivileged children, regardless of race or religion. Initiatives such as food basket programmes, community service centres, tuition classes for new converts, and interfaith visits are testament to PAS's commitment to an inclusive political narrative.
Bahasa Malaysia should be strengthened as the national language, while other languages should be empowered, according to Selangor PAS Youth. Respect for all communities' cultures is a fundamental principle for the Selangor Youth Wing. Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools, houses of worship, and cultural activities are celebrated with respect and within the framework of existing laws by Selangor PAS Youth.
Open dialogue is considered the best way by Selangor PAS Youth to clear misunderstandings and chart cooperation. This approach reflects PAS's belief in winning over voters with compassion, care, and welfare, not harsh rhetoric.
In conclusion, the Selangor Youth Wing of PAS is actively working towards a more inclusive political landscape, focusing on practical solutions to the issues that matter most to the public. This shift in strategy, coupled with a commitment to respecting all cultures and empowering all languages, presents a new face for Islam-centric politics in Malaysia.
