Senate Confirmation of Natasha's Return

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, will return to the National Assembly later this month, according to her counsel, Victor Giwa. The Senator's six-month suspension, which began on March 6 due to allegations of insubordination, has expired on September 7, 2025.

Despite securing a court judgment that she claims favors her recall, the Senate dismissed Akpoti-Uduaghan's claim of sexual harassment and maintained that she would remain suspended until the six-month penalty elapsed. The Senate leadership is reportedly ready to welcome her back.

Akpoti-Uduaghan has consistently argued that her suspension is linked to her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment. In July, she attempted to force her way back into the National Assembly but was barred by security operatives.

Giwa stated that pending legal disputes would not hinder Akpoti-Uduaghan's return to the Senate. He added that even court cases would become an academic exercise after her resumption. He also confirmed that Akpoti-Uduaghan is currently on vacation in London but plans to resume plenary alongside her colleagues when the Senate reconvenes on September 23.

There is no publicly available information about a court ruling allowing Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to return to the National Assembly after a six-month suspension in September 2025. The current paragraph does not mention any other political parties or individuals besides Akpoti-Uduaghan, Akpabio, and the Senate. Senator Kabiru Marafa, a political ally of Akpoti-Uduaghan, has not been mentioned in the current paragraph.

The expiration of the suspension does not hinder Akpoti-Uduaghan's return to the Senate, according to Giwa. The suspension stripped Akpoti-Uduaghan of aides, office privileges, and salaries. It remains to be seen how the Senate will address these issues upon her return.
