September 11th, 2025: National Warning Day in the Federal Regions
The Hochsauerlandkreis will participate in a nationwide civil defense drill on Thursday, September 11, 2025. This exercise, involving federal and state authorities, including civil protection agencies, aims to test technical processes and raise awareness among citizens about warning systems.
According to Carolin Fisch from Hochsauerlandkreis, the drill will include a specific duration and sequence of siren activations. At 11 a.m., sirens in the control center of the Hochsauerlandkreis in Meschede-Enste will be activated. The activation will consist of one minute of all-clear with a steady tone, one minute of warning with an ascending and descending tone, and another minute of all-clear. There will be a five-minute pause between the sequences.
The population will be informed about the test alarm via warning apps like NINA and cell broadcast of mobile network providers. Further information on the settings and compatible devices for cell broadcast can be found at www.bbk.bund.de/cellbroadcast.
After the drill, citizens are invited to participate in an online survey at www.warntag-umfrage.de. The all-clear is expected to be around 11:40 a.m.
Additional channels such as radio, television, and social media will be used to inform the population about the test signal. The federal government, states, and cities and municipalities will jointly test warning systems during this drill.
This civil defense drill is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that warning systems are functioning optimally and that citizens are well-informed and prepared in case of emergencies. It is a crucial step towards enhancing public safety and promoting a culture of preparedness.
