September's Jewish Cultural Festival unfolds in Osnabrück.
The Jewish Cultural Festival in Osnabrück, Germany, is set to be a vibrant celebration of Jewish culture from September 4th to 7th, 2025. This event, held at the Osnabrückhalle, promises a lively present and future of Jewish arts and culture.
Marina Maximilian, an internationally recognised singer, pianist, composer, and actress, will be a highlight of the festival. Born in Ukraine and immigrated to Israel as a child, Maximilian has since become a star, professionally trained and now a beacon of talent. She will perform at the opening concert, accompanied by Mobilés, a renowned shadow theater company known for bringing Jewish history to life.
Maximilian will also debut a new piece exclusively at the festival, performing "Sag mir, wo die Blumen sind."
On September 6th, 2025, jazz bassist Avishai Cohen, named one of the most influential instrumentalists of the 20th century by Bassplayer Magazine, will take the stage. Cohen will perform with his band The Hebrew Book, featuring Itay Simhovich on piano, Yali Stern on drums, Yonatan Voltzok on trombone, and Yuval Drabkin on saxophone. His performance will consist of classics and newer pieces from his over 30-year career.
The Sirba Octet, a unique ensemble founded by violinist Richard Schmoucler, will also perform traditional Jewish Klezmer melodies from Southeastern Europe on September 7th, 2025.
In addition to the concerts, the festival will feature a variety of art, readings, and workshops. Benzi Brofman, a street artist and muralist from northern Israel, will offer a graffiti workshop in Osnabrück during the festival. Brofman, who is committed to human rights and against discrimination, will share his skills and passion for art.
The festival will also showcase films such as Sky Raiders, an adventure film for the whole family, and the zany comedy Greener Pastures at the Cinema Arthouse. Seven Blessings, a film ten times awarded at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, will also be screened.
