In yesterday evening's events in Hattingen, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Huttenstraße and Buechsenschuetz, involving two cars. Fortunately, the fire alarm system at Niederwenigern's primary school was triggered due to cooking vapors, not an emergency.

Upon arrival, the duty crew of the professional fire station found that all four occupants had already left their vehicles. A reported burning trash bag had already been extinguished by the time the emergency services arrived.

The scene was chaotic, with one vehicle overturning as a result of the collision, destroying a traffic light pole. The emergency services immediately sprang into action, treating and caring for the injured. A total of three ambulances and two emergency doctor vehicles were present.

The fire department ensured fire protection, illuminated the scene, absorbed any spilled hazardous materials, and disconnected the battery of one of the vehicles. After the incident, the scene was handed over to the police.

Throughout the day, the rescue services were deployed several times. A person reported as helpless behind a closed apartment door opened the door independently after the emergency services knocked loudly several times.

In a separate incident, a corn snake was found and handed over to a snake specialist. An injured cat was handed over to its owner at the scene, making the fire department's intervention unnecessary.

Interestingly, the fire station's pump tender was not deployed, as it had been alerted for landing site security. A rescue helicopter was alerted for a bicycle accident but was not needed.
