Accident on A59 near Duissern District: Multiple Vehicles Involved
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 14:25, an accident occurred on the A59 towards Dinslaken, resulting in significant disruption to traffic. The accident involved three vehicles: an Audi A6, a Citroen Jumpy, and a VW Transporter.
According to reports, the incident began when the driver of the Audi A6, a 53-year-old man, was possibly experiencing a medical emergency, which may have caused him to lose control of his vehicle. He lightly grazed a Citroen Jumpy driven by a 59-year-old man from Dortmund. The driver of the Citroen Jumpy remained unharmed.
The Audi A6 continued without braking and collided with a VW Transporter, driven by a 69-year-old man from Duisburg. The VW Transporter had two female passengers aged 68 and 71. Fortunately, they sustained only light injuries. However, the 53-year-old driver of the Audi A6 was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
The main lane towards Dinslaken was fully closed during the investigation of the accident, and traffic was rerouted via the parallel lane. The vehicles involved in the accident were so badly damaged that they had to be towed away.
The accident investigation officer who announced that the accident on the A59 at Duissern would be carried out on Friday, August 29, 2025, has not been publicly named.
