Heavy Weather Ahead: Kazakhstan Braces for Stormy Conditions

Kazakhstan is gearing up for a spell of inclement weather, as forecasts predict heavy precipitation, snow, and even blizzards across various regions of the country. According to experts from Kazhydromet, the national weather service, the forecast for January 21-23, 2023, paints a picture of challenging conditions.

The center, south, and east of Kazakhstan are expected to receive heavy precipitation, with some regions also bracing for heavy snowfall. In the northern regions, nighttime temperatures could plummet to as low as -25 to -30 degrees Celsius.

In the Almaty Region, specific areas may experience heavy rain, snow, and even blizzards. Fog and ice are also anticipated in certain regions of this area. Occasionally, winds in Almaty Region may reach up to 30 meters per second, although the Emergency Situations Department of Almaty Region has reported that no specific regions are exposed to particularly high wind speeds during this period.

The Emergency Situations Department of Almaty Region has issued a storm warning for January 22-23, with winds expected to reach speeds of 15-20 m/s during the storm. Wind gusts may reach up to 23-28 m/s, and the direction of the winds will be from the northwest to southwest. On the afternoon of the 22nd and night of the 23rd, northwest winds will shift to southwest in Almaty Region.

Almaty.tv has reported on the forecast shared by Kazhydromet, and the storm warning for Almaty Region was also reported by the Emergency Situations Department. It is advised that residents of affected areas stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of adverse weather conditions.
