Shibutov's take on Almaty's elections: "No cheating was spotted, the voting process seemed fair"

According to political scientist Marat Shibutov, the recent elections in Kazakhstan were conducted peacefully, with minimal incidents reported in cities beyond Almaty. He further stated that the elections were deemed very good and fair by both international observers and local observers.

In the elections, 'Aulyi' ended up in third place, despite having the second-largest budget. This party significantly increased their votes compared to 2016, by approximately 2.5 times. However, 'Adal' has not been successful in the elections, according to Shibutov.

Shibutov expects the presence of three parties in the Mazhilis to be a common occurrence, suggesting that Kazakhstan is moving towards multi-party politics, pluralism of views, and civilized competition. He also mentioned the presence of multiple observer networks during the elections, with almost all polling stations covered by observers.

'Birlik' was described as a dormant party by Shibutov, and he suggested that 'Adal' might have gained more votes if they had rebranded six months earlier. He did not provide specific details about the elections in Almaty.

Approximately 25 public organizations were conducting observations in Kazakhstan during the elections, according to Shibutov. The number of parties involved in the elections was not mentioned in the current paragraph. He commented on the elections in Almaty, but specific details were not provided.

Shibutov stated that there were no major violations reported during the elections, and he believes that Kazakhstan is moving in the right direction towards a more democratic and fair political landscape.
