Siblings Detained for Alleged Burglaries: Police Investigation in Progress
In the early hours of Friday, August 29, a suspicious vehicle was reported at a construction site in Niederkassel/Rheidt. The police were alerted around 1:00 AM, and the vehicle was later stopped in Löwenburgstraße. Inside the car were two brothers from Niederkassel, aged 23 and 30.
The brothers were questioned by the police, suspected of involvement in alleged fraud with vehicle license plates and suspected serious theft. Two tool trailers had been broken into at the construction site, and items such as a concrete saw, pickaxe, shovel, bolt cutters, and a level - all missing from the broken trailers - were found in the backseat of the stopped car.
Additionally, the suspects are accused of license plate fraud and forgery, as fake license plates were attached over the original ones with tape on the stopped car. One of the suspects was also found to have a broken lock in his pocket.
Despite the evidence, the men were temporarily arrested but later released due to lack of evidence. The Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters is conducting the investigation, and the investigation into the suspicion of aggravated theft continues.
