Rodion Shchedrin's Final Farewell: A Private Ceremony in Russia

Renowned composer Rodion Shchedrin, who passed away on August 29 at the Bogenhausen Clinic in Munich, Germany, will be honoured with a ceremony on August 31. The event will mark the conclusion of the composer's life, with his ashes to be scattered over Russia at an undisclosed location.

The ceremony is expected to be a significant event in Russian culture, as Shchedrin, who was 92 at the time of his death, left an indelible mark on the arts. His ashes will be scattered alongside those of his wife, ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, who passed away in 2015.

Maya Plisetskaya's ashes will also be scattered over Russia, as per the wishes of both the late artists. The scattering ceremony will be a private event, not open to the public. However, photographs of the ceremony, taken by Yevgeny Razumny, will be available for purchase from Kommersant.

A photograph of the ceremony participants, including Maya Plisetskaya, is also available, as well as a photograph of the late composer. For those who wish to pay their respects, there will be an opportunity on August 31.

The scattering of the composer's ashes and those of his wife will likely be a poignant moment, symbolising the end of a remarkable partnership in the world of art. A photograph of the scattering ceremony may depict the attendance of Maya Plisetskaya, adding a touching element to the event.

In memory of Rodion Shchedrin, his music and legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. His ashes, together with those of his wife, will find their final resting place on Russian soil, in the hearts of the people who loved them and the world that cherished their art.
