Simultaneous emergencies in northern Dresden keep fire and rescue teams busy with two separate incidents requiring attention
On August 26, 2025, a fire broke out at a residential building in Kirchstraße, Langebrück, between 15:35 and 16:45. The incident was not related to any other ongoing incidents, such as the fire at an unknown location power station or the traffic accident on Radeberger Landstraße, Dresdner Heide.
The fire department responded swiftly, dispatching personnel from Albertstadt, Striesen, Altstadt, Neustadt, Trachau rescue stations, B-service, and Klotzsche neighborhood fire department. A total of 28 firefighters and rescue personnel were involved in the incident.
The fire was traced back to a defect in a battery during the installation of a balcony power station. This defect led to heavy smoke, which spread to a room in the basement of the residential building. One person inhaled smoke during the incident and was examined by the rescue service before being taken to a hospital.
The affected battery was promptly removed from the building and placed in a water bath by the fire department to prevent further danger. The affected room was also ventilated to remove the smoke.
The exact cause of the defect in the battery is currently unknown. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and the extent of the damage is yet to be determined. The status of any injuries or casualties resulting from the fire is not provided at this time.
Meanwhile, the fire department units involved in rescuing the trapped driver during the severe traffic accident on Radeberger Landstraße, Dresdner Heide, on the same day included firefighters and rescue stations from Albertstadt, Striesen, Altstadt, as well as rescue stations from Neustadt and Trachau, along with the city district fire department Klotzsche.
The community is urged to exercise caution when installing or using balcony power stations, and to report any suspicious incidents to the local fire department immediately.
