Skatepark located at Kuhlhoffstraße in Bürgerpark resumes operations
The skate park in Altenessen-Nord's Bürgerpark Kuhlhoffstraße has undergone a significant renovation, as announced on August 26, 2025. The newly refurbished park, now boasting a sturdy new fence, is open for use and ready to cater to children and youth.
Jugendhilfe Essen gGmbH, a nonprofit organisation likely involved in social and youth services, will take over the park in the future. This move is part of a comprehensive transformation aimed at making the park a central hub for leisure, education, and social interaction.
The renovations and improvements have been designed to enhance nature, play, exercise, and social engagement opportunities. The skate park offers a diverse range of elements for skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters, and inline skates, catering to both beginners and experienced athletes.
Other areas of the park remain closed during the ongoing works. The park's future offerings will include out-of-school educational programs, with a focus on reducing social inequalities and promoting the development of young people in Essen's north.
The transformation of Bürgerpark Kuhlhoffstraße is one of the first steps in this process. As Jugendhilfe Essen gGmbH takes over, the park is set to become a vibrant and engaging space for families, children, and youth, with and without disabilities.
The organisation's goals align with the park's, aiming to make the park a welcoming and inclusive space for all. With the renovated skate park now open, the community of Altenessen-Nord can look forward to many exciting developments in the near future.
