Sky Bet Stops Providing #Custom Bet Service
Down to Earth with Sky Bet's #RequestABet Shutdown
That's a bummer for sports bettors and Twitter enthusiasts alike, as Sky Bet, the UK's favorite gambling company, has decided to pull the plug on the beloved #RequestABet service. Don't worry, though - you can still get your betting fix through various offerings on the operator's official site.
Time to Move On
The #RequestABet X/Twitter service was all about catering to customers yearning for unique, out-of-the-ordinary betting options that Sky Bet usually didn't offer. Now, though, skies have turned gray for the request inbox as it will no longer be a hotbed of action.
In a farewell address, Sky Bet declared that their #RequestABet service is no longer in service. Consequently, the inbox will no longer be actively monitored, which means you can't ping them with requests or questions through that channel. SkyBetHelp is your new pal for all queries now.
Still, good news is on the horizon! A slew of #RequestABets and specials will persist on the operator's official website, and the party can roll on! The SkyBet #RequestABet account even modified its "About" description to reflect the service's sunset.
Saying Goodbye to a Pioneer
The spark for such a service ignited way back in 2012 when Sky Bet found themselves flooded with bizarre bet requests. In the following years, in 2015, the operator jumped the gun and made it official - #RequestABet was born. For eight incredible years, the service served up fun-filled, sometimes a tad nonsensical, betting choices that liked nothing more than pushing the envelope.
As interest in the service ebbed over time, Sky Bet finally decided it was time to hang up the gloves.
Alun Bowden, senior vice president of strategic insight at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, eloquently declared the end of an era. He posited that several factors may have led Sky Bet to the decision, but the most likely culprit was Sky Bet's integration with Paddy Power, leading to the bet builder feature taking center stage.
Bowden lamented the demise of #RequestABet, reminiscing about the good old days when the gambling industry was a touch more laid-back and all about fun.
"Organic, often mispriced, even more often horrific value, always fun to bet on and felt like something that was interactive and more like a game than a sports bet," Bowden waxed nostalgic. "It changed how people think about betting. Now instead, we have... bet builders."
He admitted that bet builders aren't all bad but feared they may lack the spark and character of the iconic #RequestABet service.
