Record-Breaking Fruit and Vegetable Exports in Almeria

Almeria, a province in Andalusia, Spain, has set a new record for fruit and vegetable exports in the first half of 2025. The agricultural sector in Almeria experienced a year-on-year growth of 11.6 per cent, making it the region with the largest increase among the top five exporting regions in Andalucia.

The pepper is the main export responsible for these record-breaking figures, with the most protected hectares. The pepper boosted foreign sales with 14.7 per cent of the total, or €745 million in gross earnings. Tomatoes and pumpkins also rank high in Almeria's fruit and vegetable sales, making them among the top 10 products.

Almeria's export record is not limited to the first half of the year. From January to June 2025, the region experienced an export record, reaching a market value of €2.518 billion.

While Almeria leads in total revenues from fruit and vegetable exports, the region with the largest share in 2025 is not explicitly mentioned in the available search results. Huelva ranks second in the sales of these products in Andalucia, with a value of €1.4 billion. Malaga ranks third with a value of €311 million, followed by Sevilla with €294 million, Granada with €271 million, Cadiz with €132 million, Cordoba with €108 million, and Jaen with €6.4 million.

Interestingly, 99 per cent of international sales of fruits from Andalucia go to other European countries. Germany is the top destination for fruit sales from Andalucia, with a value of €1.598 billion. The fruits exported from Andalucia reach a total of 87 different countries.

The agricultural sector in Almeria accounts for half of Andalucia's total fruit and vegetable sales. This growth is a significant contribution to the regional and national economy, highlighting the importance of the sector in Andalusia.
