SNL Regular Heidi Gardner's Future Plans Revealed Following Her Departure from the Series

In the world of comedy, change is a constant, and that's certainly the case with Saturday Night Live (SNL). As the iconic American television programme gears up for its 51st season, it's saying goodbye to some of its beloved cast members.

Heidi Gardner, a series veteran who graced Studio 8H for eight seasons, has announced her departure from SNL. Gardner, known for her quirky and hilarious characters, expressed her disbelief about the recent cast cuts on social media. However, reports from alleged SNL producers should be taken with a grain of salt.

Gardner's exit from SNL was confirmed shortly after Devon Walker's announcement, making him the first cast member to be let go ahead of Season 51. Another cast member, Michael Longfellow, has also been let go from the show.

While there is no official public information about which additional cast members have been cut, Lorne Michaels and co. have signed five new stars for SNL Season 51: Veronika Slowikowska, Kam Patterson, Jeremy Culhane, Tommy Brennan, and Ben Marshall from Please Don't Destroy.

Heidi Gardner's career, it seems, is far from over. Producers for SNL expressed the viewpoint that Gardner's career will flourish moving forward, attributing it to the increased number of gigs she's been stacking up. Gardner has had key supporting roles in hit dramedy series and movies like Otherhood, Puss in Buss: The Last Wish, Leo, and Hustle. She's also appeared in various commercials and TV series such as You, Girls5eva, Shrinking, and Is It Cake?.

Dana Carvey, a former SNL cast member, claimed on his Fly on the Wall podcast that Heidi Gardner was not the one who decided to leave SNL. Regarding her departure, there are reports that there's no bad blood between Gardner and her former employers.

As for the rest of the departing cast members, the co-stars who will no longer report to Studio 8H have not been specified. The new season premieres on NBC on October 4 at 11:35 p.m. ET, and episodes will be streamable with a Peacock subscription.

In the end, while change can be bittersweet, the future of SNL and its departing cast members looks bright.
