Socialist Group's Final Meeting Praises Clinic-MZ: "Outstanding City Clinic"

In the heart of Solingen, change is afoot. Mayor Tim Kurzbach, soon after taking office, resolved the long-standing saga of the Olbo land and its noble owner, paving the way for a new chapter in the city's development.

One key player in this transformation is the city development company Solingen (SEG), founded in 2018 as a response to an SPD retreat request. The SEG has already proven to be a success factor at many important points, such as the quick construction of daycare centers.

Its latest project involves the redesign of the market, pedestrian zone, and "spider" at Lennestraße, the new residential area on the stadium grounds, and the millions of investments between the station, Sauerbreystraße, Galileum, and Prinzenstraße. The SEG is also responsible for the development of the future Hansa quarter behind the main station, which will grow alongside the rapidly expanding university location.

The SEG is seen as an important tool to act flexibly, even with difficult properties. Iris Preuß-Buchholz, faction leader, believes the SEG would be ideal for the urban development in the Solingen city center. She is confident that the importance of such a future investment will be seen in the municipal oversight and a clever concept will be approved.

The city is planning to purchase the land between Mühlenplatz and Fronhof for urban development. This land includes the former Kaufhof buildings and P&C. Iris Preuß-Buchholz believes that the planned Medical Care Center of their clinic with outpatient services would fit well in the city center and generate foot traffic.

Following the MVZ, other interested investors are expected. The SPD faction decided on this initiative during their retreat on Saturday. However, the search results do not contain specific information about who will be responsible for the development of Mühlenplatz in Solingen if the city proceeds with the land purchase.

The Mühlenplatz is easily accessible by all means of transportation. This central location, coupled with the SEG's proven track record, suggests that the Mühlenplatz development could be another success story in Solingen's ongoing city center transformation.

Remembering the development in Ohligs nine years ago, Iris Preuß-Buchholz compares the current city center development to a phoenix rising from the ashes. A Solingen mayor exchanged angry letters with a countess in Bavaria, but today, the city center is a bustling hub of activity, thanks in part to the SEG's efforts.

As the city moves forward with its plans, the SEG continues to play a significant role in the development of Solingen's city center. The SEG has already demonstrated its effectiveness in the city center with the purchase and rapid conversion of the Kersting building into a kind of city center watch. The future of Solingen's city center is bright, and the SEG is at the forefront of this exciting new chapter.
