Softball team from Holy Cross makes a comeback from the Montana Softball Classic tournament
In the latest sports news, the Holy Cross softball team made a strong showing at the Montana Softball Classic, splitting the first day with Montana University and securing a win on the second day against Northern Illinois University (NIU) with a score of 5-3.
The team had a rocky start to the tournament, with a record of 2-6 before the event. However, they managed to turn things around, finishing the tournament with a record of 5-3 in their last 8 games, bringing their overall record to 5-9.
The team's impressive run began with the first game of the tournament, where Sophomore Ali Sniegocki clinched a game-winning RBI single. Megan Yurchick, another team member, finished the game with 2 hits and 3 strikeouts.
Sophomore Jenna Alesandrelli had an impressive outing in the NIU game, batting 2-for-3 with a home run. Meanwhile, Sophomore Anna Brait had a good performance in the second game against Montana, batting 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run.
Unfortunately, the team lost their final game of the tournament to NIU. Despite this setback, the team's improved performance at the Montana Softball Classic is a promising sign for the future of the Holy Cross softball program.
Before last year, the softball program at Holy Cross had been struggling. Prior to the tournament, the team had a record of 2-6. However, the team's recent success at the Montana Softball Classic suggests that the program is on the rise.
