Accor Appoints Ranju Alex as CEO for South Asia

Ranju Alex, a prominent figure in the hospitality industry, has been conferred with the prestigious Bharat Gaurav award. This honour recognises her significant achievements over the past three decades.

Most notably, under her leadership, Marriott International managed over 170 hotels across the region. Her impressive tenure culminated in her appointment as the Regional Vice President for South Asia.

Now, Alex is set to embark on a new venture as the chief executive officer (CEO) for South Asia at Accor. This move marks her entry into the Accor and InterGlobe family, a joint venture that aims to open 300 Accor hotels in India by 2030.

The region covered by this joint venture includes India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, and Gaurav Bhushan, Chairman of the proposed Accor/InterGlobe JV, expressed excitement about Alex's joining their organisation. Bhushan, who also serves as CEO of Accor's Lifestyle & Leisure brands, believes Alex brings a wealth of rich experience, skills, and relationships into their business.

Bhushan looks forward to building the foremost hospitality platform in the region under Alex's leadership. The creation of this new joint venture will consolidate their businesses into a single entity/vehicle, subject to receiving the necessary regulatory approvals.

Alex's career in the hospitality industry spans over three decades. She began her journey with The Oberoi Group in 1993. With a highly accomplished CV, she has held several leadership positions with Marriott International.

The Fairmont Udaipur Palace, a new luxury destination in Rajasthan, has recently been added to Accor's portfolio. This expansion is timely, as Alex takes on her new role, promising exciting times ahead for the hospitality giant in South Asia.

However, it's important to note that the new joint venture between Accor and InterGlobe Enterprises is yet to receive the necessary regulatory approvals. Once approved, it will undoubtedly shape the hospitality landscape in the region, with Alex's expertise at the helm.
