Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the South Carolina offense, throwing 12 of 19 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown. However, his performance was not without its flaws. Virginia Tech's offense struggled to find the end zone, with John Love kicking three field goals being their only points. The Hokies' quarterback, Kyron Drones, was intercepted twice by the South Carolina defense, with interceptions in the first and fourth quarters.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will host South Carolina State on Saturday, while Virginia Tech will face Vanderbilt at home. Frank Beamer, the father of Gamecocks coach Shane Beamer, was in attendance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium wearing South Carolina black, eagerly watching his son's debut as a college head coach.
