Spanish Golfer Carlota Ciganda Takes the Front at Houston Tournament
Carlota Ciganda Soars in Aramco Houston Championship
Spain's Carlota Ciganda is making waves in the Aramco Houston Championship, firing a round of 64 (-8) on day two to take the lead. Ciganda began her round with a birdie on hole 10 and continued her impressive play, shooting six-under on the front nine.
The 32-year-old golfer from Navarre showed no signs of slowing down, as she rolled in four birdies in a row on holes 16, 17, 18, and the first. Ciganda's only blemish of the day came on hole 8, but she quickly recovered, following with back-to-back birdies on holes 13 and 14.
Ciganda's compatriot, Nuria Iturrioz, is hot on her heels, finishing day two with a round of 67 (-5). Iturrioz had two bogeys but made up for it with seven birdies, including four in a row on holes 11 to 14.
Ireland's Lauren Walsh is making a strong comeback, shooting a 68 on day two, moving to one-under par. Walsh is nine shots behind Ciganda but is definitely a player to watch in the coming days.
Sadly, Sara Byrne and Annabel Wilson failed to make the cut, finishing the tournament at +5 and +8 respectively.
Emma Spitz, from Austria, achieved the second-best score on day three with a flawless round of 70 strokes (-2). With Ciganda's impressive performance, it's shaping up to be an exciting finish to the Aramco Houston Championship.
