Sparkasse Regensburg enthusiastically champions and encourages grassroots community projects.
In the heart of Eastern Bavaria, Sparkasse Regensburg marked its 200-year anniversary with a special event, recognising and celebrating the numerous civil society initiatives it has supported over the years.
The event, filled with enthusiasm and appreciation, saw the bank acknowledging various projects that have made a significant impact in the community. Among them was the vkm project "THEO - Center for animal-assisted therapy in Eastern Bavaria", supported by Sparkasse Regensburg, which aims to help physically and multiply disabled people.
Tennis Club Rot-Blau Regensburg was also recognised for its role in promoting mass sports sustainably. The bank's support extends to BPW Business and Professional Women Germany, which organised an event promoting equal pay between women and men.
The Kultur am Regen association, known for its neighbourhood activation and city-wide impactful festival, was another recipient of Sparkasse Regensburg's support. The bank's commitment to promoting the common good is evident in its backing of initiatives like nature conservation efforts by the LBV, which actively opposes right-wing extremism and promotes tolerance and democracy within environmental work.
Humanitarian and social projects, such as donation campaigns for animal welfare organisations like SardinienHunde e.V., also received support from Sparkasse Regensburg. The bank's dedication to its community was further demonstrated in its backing of projects like JumpaKids, a Catholic Youth Welfare's obesity counseling model, and Freie TUS 1911's children and youth work, which has an integrative and inclusive effect.
The event also highlighted the importance of volunteering, with a heartfelt thank you expressed to the many volunteers who contribute to these initiatives. The Stenographic Association Regensburg 1864, now able to participate in Bavarian and German championships, was another group that benefited from Sparkasse Regensburg's support.
Networking at the event demonstrated mutual exchange among various civil society engagements, with initial ideas for future collaborations being discussed. A variety of "lighthouse projects" were presented, which were supported by Sparkasse donations.
KlinikClowns, who provide more lightness and resilience to caregivers, and Caritas Marienheim in Ostengasse, a new shelter for women in Regensburg, were also supported by Sparkasse Regensburg.
Looking forward, Sparkasse Regensburg aims to achieve similar levels of donations and sponsorship in 2025. The bank's continuous work in supporting civil society initiatives is indeed "priceless." Financial remuneration is needed for ongoing operations and new projects, and Sparkasse Regensburg remains committed to its role in fostering a vibrant and supportive community in Regensburg.
