Spinner Abrar Ahmed confounds United Arab Emirates and propels Pakistan towards tri-series final
Pakistan Secures 31-Run Victory in T20 Tri-Series Final
Pakistan emerged victorious in the T20 tri-series final, defeating the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 31 runs. The match saw a thrilling turnaround, with Pakistan recovering from a struggling 80-5 in the 12th over to post a formidable total of 171-5.
Fakhar Zaman was the star of the Pakistani batting lineup, scoring an unbeaten 77 off 44 balls, marking his first T20 half-century after 15 games. Zaman's innings included a lucky break, as he was dropped on 39 by Sharafu at mid-off. Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz added Pakistan's highest-ever sixth wicket stand in T20 internationals, scoring 91 runs off the final 51 balls. Nawaz, in particular, was aggressive, smacking four fours and a six in the penultimate and final overs.
UAE, on the other hand, struggled to find momentum, slipping to 102-5 in 15 overs. Alishan Sharafu scored 68 off 51 balls for UAE, but his efforts were not enough to propel his team to victory. Captain Mohammad Waseem scored 19 before being dismissed by Abrar Ahmed, while Ethan D'Souza could only manage 9 off 14 balls before his dismissal.
Leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed was the standout performer for Pakistan, taking a career-best 4-9 to help secure the victory. Ahmed baffled the UAE top-order batters with his carrom balls and googlies, returning for another two overs and picking up three more wickets, finishing with the wicket of Harshit Kaushik off his final ball.
Earlier in the match, Haider Ali took two wickets, including those of Mohammad Haris and Hasan Nawaz, to further hinder UAE's progress. The match also saw some sloppy fielding from UAE, which Pakistan took full advantage of.
The trend of teams successfully defending the totals continued for the fifth successive game, as UAE was restricted to 140-7. Pakistan's victory in the T20 tri-series final marks a significant win for the team, showcasing their resilience and fighting spirit.
