Hammons Field, home to the Springfield Cardinals and a popular venue for events such as games for Missouri State University Bears, has undergone an impressive audio overhaul. The original audio system, installed when the stadium opened in 2004, was upgraded during the offseason, leaving a narrow installation window before the first pitch of 2025.

The upgrade was carried out by audio, video, and lighting integrator Paragon 360, with Electro-Voice and Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) providing the equipment. The Coca-Cola Redbird Roost, the SpringNet Champions Club, a spacious main concourse, private suites, and new third-level executive suites are just some of the facilities within Hammons Field that now benefit from the new audio system.

Specifically, 18 MKC80 speakers from Electro-Voice were used for outdoor suite seating, 7 for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, 6 MKC120 speakers for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost common area, and 7 across the stadium entrances. The compact size and overall sound quality of the MKC series were highlighted as a tremendous value. The system's intelligibility and output were praised as outstanding.

For the main seating areas at Hammons Field, 14 EAW MKD1296 3-way full-range loudspeakers were installed. These speakers were chosen for their ability to provide better coverage, higher output, and better pattern control. The EAW MKC series, deemed the perfect complement to the MKD main speakers, was used as fill speakers and deployed throughout the upper decks, club spaces, outdoor suite seating, Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, Coca-Cola Redbird Roost common area, and stadium entrances.

All speakers were hung using the appropriate EAW U-Bracket to ensure a secure and professional installation. EAW managed to deliver the speakers in time for opening day despite the tight schedule, as stated by Nelms, the project manager.

The new audio system covers every seat in the 6,750-seat minor league baseball stadium, significantly improving the fan experience at Hammons Field, according to Nelms. With the upgrade complete, Hammons Field is ready to continue hosting exciting games and events for years to come.
