In an exciting turn of events, Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as master detective Benoit Blanc in the third installment of Rian Johnson's "Knives Out" film series, titled "Wake Up Dead Man". The film, set to release on Netflix starting December 12th of this year, promises a darker tone and an impressive ensemble cast.

Rian Johnson, the director and co-writer of the "Knives Out" series, has penned the screenplay for "Wake Up Dead Man". The film maintains the comedic Johnson style but delves into a more sombre atmosphere compared to its predecessors.

The ensemble cast includes Josh O'Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott, Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, and Daniel Craig himself. The title "Wake Up Dead Man" is inspired by a song by the Irish band U2 from their 1997 album "Pop".

At the premiere of "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" at the Toronto International Film Festival, Craig expressed his gratitude for the role, referring to himself as "lucky" to have it. Rian Johnson, Daniel Craig, and Ram Bergman, the producer of the "Knives Out" film series, were also present at the event.

In an interview, Craig stated that if Rian Johnson comes up with another script "as good as I imagine", he is open to returning to the role of Benoit Blanc. However, Johnson has not written a script for a potential fourth film yet.

The release of "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" maintains the three-year rhythm established by the series. The first film, "Knives Out - All in the Family", was released in 2019, followed by the sequel "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" in 2022, and now part three at the end of 2025.

The title of the first film, "Knives Out", was inspired by Radiohead, while the title of the second film, "Glass Onion", was inspired by the Beatles. The third film in the series, "Wake Up Dead Man", continues the tradition of unique and intriguing titles.

Fans of the series can look forward to the release of "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery" on Netflix this December. With its darker tone and star-studded cast, it promises to be an exciting addition to the "Knives Out" series.
