Star's Father Reveals Heartrending Plea from Lil Nas X's Jail Cell Following His Public Nudity Incident and Arrest
In a series of unexpected events, music sensation Lil Nas X, born Montero Hill, found himself in the headlines for reasons other than his chart-topping hits. Last week, the Atlanta native was arrested in the wee hours of August 21, following an incident on Ventura Avenue in Studio City, Los Angeles.
According to reports, Lil Nas X was charged with stripping nude on a major street and allegedly assaulting police officers, leading to three felony battery counts and charges of injury on an officer and resisting an executive officer.
During his time in jail, Lil Nas X asked his father, Robert Stafford, to relay a message to the public: "Tell everybody I'm sorry they saw me like that." Stafford, in a show of support, offered words of comfort to his troubled son, saying, "What you're going through is normal." He also acknowledged that his son's breakdown played out in the public eye, which is different from usual.
Lil Nas X spent multiple days in jail before being released on a $75,000 bail. Shortly after his release, he broke his silence on the matter on social media, assuring his fans, "Your girl is gonna be OK, y'all." and "She's gonna be all right." He further described his four-day stint behind bars as "terrifying."
In a court appearance the day before his social media statement, Lil Nas X exited wearing a blue jail jumpsuit. The name of the treatment facility he was committed to after his incarceration remains undisclosed.
Robert Stafford visited his son in jail and shared that they cried together. In an Instagram post, Lil Nas X expressed his gratitude for the support, saying, "I'm so grateful for all the love & support you've shown me during this time... I've cried a lot, but I'm stronger than ever."
