Stella McCartney has appointed Tom Mendenhall as its new CEO.

Stella McCartney, the British fashion designer and founder of her eponymous brand, has announced a new chapter for her fashion house with the appointment of Tom Mendenhall as its chief executive officer (CEO). Mendenhall succeeds Amandine Ohayon, who is stepping down after nearly two years at the helm.

The company made the announcement in a statement obtained by WWD, highlighting Mendenhall's extensive experience in the luxury sector as a key factor in his appointment. Mendenhall brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role, having previously worked as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Tom Ford, and as worldwide director of merchandising at Gucci. He also served as brand president of Polo and Double RL at Ralph Lauren.

Ohayon's departure marks a significant moment for the fashion house, having been CEO since late 2023. McCartney expressed gratitude for Ohayon's work and shared successes during her tenure, wishing her well in her future projects. McCartney and the board also thanked Ohayon for her contribution to the transition of the fashion house to an independent corporate structure, following the buyback of minority shares held by LVMH earlier this year.

Stella McCartney expressed her belief that Mendenhall shares her vision for the brand and its ethical values, which are part of its DNA. She stated that Mendenhall's arrival will contribute to the next growth phase of the brand. McCartney also expressed her admiration for Mendenhall and his team, and expressed confidence in their ability to propel the company forward and build a strong future.

Mendenhall, in turn, expressed his admiration for Stella McCartney and her team, and expressed his excitement about the opportunity to lead the brand. He stated that he looks forward to contributing to the next phase of the company's development and building on the successes achieved during Ohayon's tenure.

The transition to an independent corporate structure is expected to provide the fashion house with greater creative freedom and flexibility, allowing it to continue to push boundaries and innovate in the fashion industry. With Mendenhall at the helm, Stella McCartney is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter, driven by a shared vision and a commitment to ethical values.
