Steve Buscemi acknowledges that his name is commonly mispronounced by others, including himself.

In the world of Hollywood, it's not uncommon for names to be mispronounced, and two renowned actors, Steve Buscemi and Denzel Washington, have found themselves in the midst of this phenomenon.

Steve Buscemi, a 67-year-old actor, currently starring in the second season of the Netflix series "Wednesday," has been discussing the various ways his last name has been pronounced. He joked that he doesn't know how to say his own name, a sentiment shared by many fans. In a recent interview, Buscemi explained that he used to say his last name as 'Bue-semi,' but can no longer do so. Jimmy Fallon, during an interview on "The Tonight Show," said that on "The Studio," they pronounced Steve Buscemi's last name as 'Brusch-kemi,' like bruschetta. However, Buscemi now pronounces his name as "Boo-Semi," taking a little bit from each pronunciation. He acknowledges that it's the Italian way and not how he grew up saying it.

Meanwhile, Denzel Washington, known for his roles in "Fargo" and "Reservoir Dogs," has also shared that his name has been pronounced incorrectly for decades. His first name, pronounced "DEN-zel," with a clipped "e" vowel in the second syllable, is often mispronounced. Washington's father's name is Denzel Hayes Washington Sr., and it was his mother who started the mispronunciation of his name.

Lori Bashian, an entertainment production assistant for our website Digital, commented on the ongoing issue, saying, "It's fascinating how these mispronunciations have become so ingrained in popular culture. It just goes to show that even the most well-known individuals can't escape the occasional mispronunciation of their names."

In a more serious note, Buscemi recently experienced an attempted attack in New York on a recent Friday. No information is available about a suspect or perpetrator in the incident. Clifton Williams, a 50-year-old individual, was arrested in connection to the attack, resulting in injuries including a black eye for Buscemi.

Despite the incident, Buscemi finds it exciting to be in a show that people are familiar with, such as "Wednesday." He is playing the role of Principal Barry Dort in the series. Washington, on the other hand, continues to grace the screens with his talent, reminding us that even with mispronounced names, he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of acting.

In an industry where names are often mispronounced, it's refreshing to see these two actors taking it in stride and continuing to captivate audiences with their talents.
