Stocks of Fresenius experiencing declines during midday trading

The Frankfurt Stock Exchange witnessed a blend of gains and losses during trading on September 9, 2025. The DAX, Germany's leading stock index, started the day at around 13,270 points but ended with a decrease of 0.3 percent from the previous trading day, closing at approximately 13,237 points.

The DAX's downturn was influenced by several significant shareholders. Insiders like the management of CiTech, with CEO Brenton Scott holding a substantial 30 percent, were among the major players involved in stock purchases. Other notable investors included Anglo-American shareholders, who increased their control to about 62.4 percent after a transaction, and ASML, which invested 1.3 billion euros to acquire around 11 percent of the French AI startup Mistral.

Despite the overall decline, the trading session was not without its bright spots. Companies like Deutz increased capital through share placement to finance acquisitions, and Cancom announced a share buyback of up to 10 percent of its capital, positively influencing stock prices.

On the positive side of the ledger, Adidas, Merck, and Volkswagen led the gainers at midday. The share price of Adidas increased during the trading session, while Merck and Volkswagen also saw their share prices rise. However, Fresenius, Linde, and SAP found themselves at the bottom of the list, with their share prices decreasing during the trading session.

Market observers attribute the mixed results to the possibility that the soon-to-be-available COVID-19 vaccine is already largely priced in.
