Stolen Cars and Fence Parts: Arrest of Bicycle Thieves, Prize Money Seized
Car Theft and Fence Vandalism Incidents Reported in Lower Saxony
In a series of unfortunate events, two incidents of theft and vandalism have been reported in Lower Saxony, Germany, as of April 6th, 2025.
In the first instance, a car theft occurred in Schillerstraße, Neu Wulmstorf. The stolen vehicle, a gray Kia XCeed, was parked on a parking strip and the thieves managed to manipulate the keyless entry system to start the car. The theft occurred between 7 PM on April 6th and 9 AM on April 7th, 2025.
Upon the arrival of the police, the suspects were in the process of breaking into a third bike. Upon seeing the police, the suspects abandoned the bike and fled but were soon apprehended. The stolen vehicle has been estimated to be worth around 30,000 EUR.

In a separate incident, on the same day, April 6th, 2025, a group of four young men were caught tampering with bicycles at the train station in Tostedt. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the four men, aged 21, 23, 24, and 25.
Meanwhile, in Winsen, between March 11th and 12th, 2025, twelve elements of a chain-link fence were stolen from a rainwater retention basin on Borsteler Grund Straße. The stolen fence elements were from a chain-link fence surrounding the rainwater retention basin. The Winsen police are seeking witnesses who may have observed the theft or the removal of the fence elements. Witnesses are asked to contact the Winsen police at 04171 7960.
The person leading the Harburg police station when the investigation into the theft of fencing elements at the rainwater container on Borsteler Grund Straße was initiated in March 2025 was Chief Criminal Director Thomas Meyn. The damage to the fence amounts to at least 2,000 EUR. The Winsen police are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and contact the authorities.
